Bible Fellowship Church: A Brief History

For almost one-hundred years, a local church has existed in Olney, Illinois that has been known for the past twenty-three years as Bible Fellowship Church. The church was established in 1909 as a Christian Church, then later became a Congregational Christian Church in 1935. The name changed in 1984 to Bible Fellowship Church, to reveal to the community the independent status of the church and its emphasis on Bible-based teaching and preaching.

For seventy-nine years the church met in a building located in downtown Olney, near the Prairie Farms Dairy facility. That building and property were sold in 1987 to Prairie Farms, and the church purchased property and constructed a new building in the north-east section of Olney. Bible Fellowship Church began meeting in the new building in April of 1988.

Since 1967, the church has had an active interest in missions. It has supported missionaries in many foreign countries, and in various ministries within the United States. Currently, Bible Fellowship supports those active in ministry in Jordan, India, Chile, Papua New Guinea and among Hispanics and Jews in the United States.
